What's Open, Closed On Thanksgiving In Melrose
Most city offices and services are closed to give everyone plenty of time to prep for the best meal of the year.
MELROSE, MA — Thanksgiving is usually a time of gathering and celebration, but this year officials across the country are pleading with people not to gather and limit the spread of the coronavirus.
"If we treat this year just like we treat every other Thanksgiving, it's quite likely that it will trigger a significant spread. And we know that that leads to serious illness for many and in rare cases death, especially among our senior citizens," said Gov. Charlie Baker.
While large gatherings and travel is being warned against, some things are staying the same, including the closures of town offices, services and several businesses for the holiday. People may be celebrating at home or virtually, but they still need time that day to prep the best meal of the year and reflect on what they're thankful for.
