Looking for what's allowed to be open and what will be closed this holiday? Here's a partial list to help you out:
- All city, state and federal offices will be closed Thursday.
- Banks and stock markets will be closed Thursday.
- Restaurants, bars, convenience stores, retail stores and liquor stores will be open at the owners' discretion. Melrose businesses—if you're open today, let everyone know by posting your hours in the comments below.
- Hourglass Gift Gallery will be closed July 4-5
- CruiseOne Melrose will be open July 4 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Home Sweet Home Consignments will be closed July 4.
- Grant Printing Office will be closed July 4. The meeting at Gooch Park will be canceled; due to a lack of response the planned cookout has been moved to their office in Reading.
If you're heading into Boston Thursday: Beginning at 2 p.m., subway service on all lines will operate at rush hour levels. Fares will be free after 9:30 p.m.
Bicycles are not allowed on any subway lines all day Thursday. Ditto for inbound commuter rail trains from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., or on outbound trains after 4 p.m
