NATICK, MA β€” The Natick bridge damaged on Halloween by MassDOT workers will need to be demolished, state officials have confirmed. The Boden Lane Bridge has been closed since Oct. 31.

The town of Natick and MWRTA launched a special shuttle bus to replace the closed bridge. That shuttle will be available weekdays during the morning and evening rush hours to get commuters β€” including pedestrians β€” to the West Natick MBTA station. Natick added a second vehicle to the shuttle service on Tuesday to meet demand.

There is no timeline for when the bridge will be demolished. But town officials say that a temporary pedestrian bridge will be erected soon.

"At my urging, I was assured that they are developing a plan to construct a temporary structure for pedestrian access over the tracks, along with a water main," state Rep. David P. Linsky said on Tuesday. "This would allow walking commuters, who live in West Natick, to access the West Natick train station by foot. I also implored MassDOT to explore additional parking to alleviate the parking crunch at the West Natick Train Station."

The town says more details will be revealed by the end of the week.
