Book Launch of Rock Star! A Children's Book Illustrated by Five Crows Owner/Artist
Book Launch of Rock Star!, a Children's Book Illustrated by Five Crows Owner/Artist to take place May 30.

Five Crows Gallery & Handcrafted Gifts will host a book launch party of Rock Star!, a childrenβs picture and science book, on Saturday, May 30, from 2:00-5:00 pm at the store, 41 Main Street (Rt. 27), Natick Historical District. Rock Star! was written by Kelly Darling and illustrated by Ginger McEachern, one of the Five Crows Owners/Artists.
Rock Star!, written in a rhythmic text, follows the journey of a rock as it moves through the rock cycle: a constant cycle that changes rocks from one form to another. From Igneous to Sedimentary and Sedimentary to Metamorphic, the rock that we see in the beginning of the story is very different from the rock the reader will find at the end...The book was written for elementary-aged children.
Kelly Darling and Ginger McEachern met 15 years ago while teaching science and art, respectively, at the Brighton School, a private elementary school in Framingham. Inspired to provide young readers with science picture books that were fun to read and beautiful to look at, Kelly and Ginger began their collaboration. βWe feel strongly that science and art are connected. Through our books, we hope to provide young readers with a new lens, enabling them to see Science in a new way: to associate it with artistic beauty and beautiful language,β says Kelly Darling. βAfter all, science really is BEAUTIFUL!β

This is the second childrenβs science, picture book that Kelly Darling and Ginger McEachern have created over the last two years. Their first book, A Fishy Tale follows the story of a lone little fish who travels the ocean to find out who and what he is by comparing his characteristics with those of other marine animals that he encounters. The rhythmic read aloud is told against the backdrop of beautiful water color illustrations created by Ginger. A Fishy Tale introduces young readers to the science of animal classification in an engaging story that is fun to read!
