Amazon 4-star Store Opens In Massachusetts

NATICK, MA — E-commerce goliath Amazon on Wednesday expanded its experiment with retail locations by opening its fifth Amazon 4-star store at the Natick Mall. It's Amazon's first 4-star store in Massachusetts; the company also has a book store at Legacy Place in Dedham and in Market Street in Lynnfield.

Amazon 4-star stores carry electronics, kitchen accessories, home decor and other items rated four stars or higher. Other products are new or trending on the website.

Amazon is just one of the online giants dipping its toe in the world of physical retail. Earlier this summer, Wayfair opened its first store and, like Amazon, chose the Natick Mall.

The merchandise at Amazon 4-star stores is broken up into different categories to mimic online categories, including "New and Trending," "Tailgaiting Essentials" and "Most-Wished-For Books."

The store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

The new Amazon store holds on to the review aspect of the website and has customer review cards with quotes near the products. Echo and smart-home accessories that work with Alexa are available for shoppers to test.
