The purpose of the project is to support current and projected transit ridership in Natick by providing an upgraded MBTA commuter rail station that complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). AECOM, a California based engineering company, was awarded the design contract but the MBTA.
The project plans upgrading the commuter rail station with high level platforms. Multi-modal access improvement is proposed in the project as well. The project would also install a new set of crossovers east of the station to improve operational flexibility.
