Natick Animal Rescue Joins Guinness Dog-Washing Record Attempt

Participants are looking to bathe the most dogs in a 12 hour period.

NATICK, MAβ€”Animal lovers and dirty dogs alike are asked to take part in a pet-washing effort that could break a Guinness World Record.

All Dog Rescue from Natick is participating in the "Bathe To Save National Tour," which is an effort to break the Guinness World Record for washing the most dogs in multiple locations in a 12 hour period.

The event takes place on Sunday, July 29, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at MetroWest Subaru in Natick. Guinness World Records is tracking the quantity of dogs washed to establish the official count of dogs for the record.

According to Guinness's records report, a record only exists for an eight-hour period. The 12-hour dog washing record would be the first of its kind.

To participate, wash your dog at MetroWest Subaru; volunteers stand by to help you bathe your pooch if you need assistance.

All proceeds benefit All Dog Rescue, and food is catered by Pennypackers Food Truck. All Dog Rescue is an all volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue of Massachusetts dogs in need and matching each with appropriate and responsible owners. The nonprofit was established in 2003 and works exclusively with local shelters (MSPCA), animal control officers and owners to rehome dogs.

"The money raised from this event helps us continue to take some of the sicker dogs in the state, get them healthy and find them adoptable homes," Volunteer Lisa Kauffman told Patch. "The adoption fees, which range from $250 to $450, cover only about half of the expenses related to spay and neuter, vaccines, heartworm testing, microchipping, parasite checks. We work hard to find sources to augment out revenue so we can continue our mission."

The cost at this dog-washing event is $10 per dog or $20 if you'd like a human T shirt and a bandana for your dog.
