Natick Gets 3 New Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

NATICK, MA — Local electric vehicle owners have a few new charging options in Natick. In a collaboration, the town and Eversource have installed three new free charging stations at Connor Heffler Park, Dug Pond and John J. Lane Park.

This collaboration supports the town of Natick and the energy company’s commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the commonwealth, 40 percent of which come from the transportation sector. The new EV charging stations are also strategically located to connect Natick residents to outdoor recreation opportunities. Since the start of the pandemic, the Town has seen a tremendous increase in the use of parks and trails, and is eager to make these accessible to EV drivers.

"We’re thankful for our partnerships with towns like Natick, which share our clean energy vision to reduce carbon emissions and help prevent the effects of climate change," said Eversource Electric Vehicle Program Lead James Cater. "While the pandemic has certainly changed life for us all, we are still committed to helping customers keep their sustainability and EV charging goals on track. Now that businesses are opening back up, we continue to actively work with municipalities and businesses to install electric vehicle infrastructure throughout the state."

Town officials utilized Eversource’s EV charging station program to install the ports. The program covers all electrical infrastructure costs needed for the stations and manages the process from start to finish. Participating municipalities only have to purchase and install the charging equipment.

"We hope residents and visitors will take advantage of the stations while visiting our open spaces and enjoying the outdoors."

As the trusted source for energy expertise, Eversource is working with municipalities and large customers throughout the state to coordinate the installation and connection of EV charging stations. Other installations to-date include: the towns of Becket, Cambridge, Greenfield, Medway, and Milton, as well as the Marine Biological Laboratory in Falmouth and several Mass Audubon locations.
