NATICK, MA β€” You can now freely water your lawn in Natick β€” if you still need to.

A town water ban in place since Aug. 10 was lifted on Wednesday. The town cited recent rain and cooler weather. The Natick area got just over a 1/3-inch of rain during a storm this week, but there's no rain in the forecast through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

"The [public works department] can safely meet demand with current production levels without the need of a water use restriction," DPW Director Jeremy Marsette wrote in a statement on Wednesday.

Almost all of Middlesex County remained in a "severe drought" on Thursday, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor. Nearby Norfolk County (and all of Bristol and Plymouth counties) was in an "extreme drought." Marsette warned residents to take "prudent measures" to conserve water, even without a ban in place.
