League Structure Baseball and Softball Divisions:

  • TBALL (6 year olds): Made up of all boys and girls who are 6 on or before April 30th of the current year or whom turn 6 in the calendar year. Players hit from a batting T and play conventional positions in the field. Minimum two (2) sessions a week on Monday and Wednesday nights.
  • Coach Pitch (7/8 year olds): Made up of all boys and girls who are 7 and 8 on or before April 30th of the current year. The first half of the season is all coach-pitch. A batting T is placed for players who have not made contact with the ball after a reasonable amount of pitches (5-6). In the second half of the season (after approx. 8 games) players who are able, will be allowed to pitch. If a batter cannot make contact after a reasonable amount of pitches (5-6), the coach will take over pitching to that batter. Players play conventional positions in the field. Minimum two (2) sessions a week. Players who are 8 are allowed to do a skills evaluation to allow themselves to "play up" in the Double A division.
  • Double A (ages 8-11): Made up of players 8- 9-10-11 years old who are not drafted onto a AAA or LL team. Coach pitch as well as player-pitched baseball with a minimum of two (2) sessions a week. This is a hardball league. For safety of all involved, 8 year olds who want to play in AA must go through an tryout/evaluation to ensure they are not playing above their level.
  • Triple A (ages 9-12): Competitive league, but still instructional, with standings and playoffs. Teams are formed by player tryout and coach draft. Teams will include 12 year olds not drafted into LL, 11 and 10 year olds, and 9 year olds (player age on or before April 30 of current year). All players 11 and younger must tryout to be eligibl e for draft to AAA team. A player who was on a AAA roster is guaranteed to make at least AAA the following season. This league utilizes a continuous batting order and free substitution. All players in attendance should play at least three defensive innings in the field.
  • Little League (ages 10-12): Competitive league, but still instructional, with standings and playoffs. Teams are formed by player tryout and coach draft. Teams include (2) 10 year olds, four (4) 11 year olds and five (5) 12 year olds (player age on or before April 30 of current year). Players must tryout to be eligible for draft onto a LL team. Rosters from the previous year remain intact for returning players who are registered. All players who tryout are ranked by the coaches, and only the top 25 players whom are in the majority are eligible to be drafted into Little League to avoid any coach bias in the selection process. Players in Little League are guaranteed three innings of play each game. There is no free-substitution or continuous batting order utilized in this league
  • Babe Ruth (ages 13-16): Teams are made up from all registered players age 13 to 16 (on or before April 30 of current year). Teams are coach-drafted, with a minimum of 12 players on a roster. There will be a small amount of travel which will be announced along with the schedule depending on the league level you play in. These towns have included Dover-Sherborn and Wellesley in the past. In 2016 there were two divisions which made up league play.

There was the SR Division which included all 16 year old players and any player who made their high school team. The rest of the roster was selected by coaches draft. All other players were in the Babe Ruth division, whi ch had five Natick teams, 2 Dover-Sherborn teams and 1 team from Wellesley. All players who are interested in Babe Ruth at least make the Babe Ruth division.
