Natick, Needham Team Up On Teen Cannabis Education
Two local substance abuse groups will host the event "Cannabis and the Teen Brain."

NATICK, MA β Substance abuse prevention groups from Natick and Needham will host an upcoming event aimed at educating parents and young people about the impact of cannabis on the brain.

As retail and medical cannabis establishments become more widespread across the Commonwealth, the Natick180 Coalition and the Substance Prevention Alliance of Needham (SPAN) are collaborating on an educational event entitled βCannabis and the Teen Brain.β Both Coalitions focus on substance misuse prevention and education in their towns. The event will feature guest speaker Dr. Safdar Medina who is the Pediatric Director of Tri-River Family Health Center in Uxbridge and Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Medina will share a fresh perspective on todayβs cannabis and its impact on teen health and adolescent brain development. Parents and caregivers across both communities are welcome to participate in the presentation and will have the opportunity to ask Dr. Medina questions.

This free event is scheduled for March 9 from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. via Zoom. Participants are required to register in advance using this Zoom link.
