Panel of Technology Experts to Visit Natick High

A panel of technology experts from across the country will spend time at Natick High School tomorrow to observe how learning is shifted by the use of technology.

The panel of technology experts who will be leading the Digital Conversation to Digital Citizenship tomorrow night will be visiting Natick High School tomorrow morning to take part in a series of activities so they can see "how learning is shifted by the use of technology," according to Natick Public Schools Assistant Superintendent Karen LeDuc.

This series of events is part of the Future Ready statewide initiative that Natick is piloting and also part of Natick being a Project RED signature district.

The Future Ready Leadership Team and school administration will have a breakfast meeting where Superintendent of Natick Public Schools Peter Sanchioni will give a presentation showing how Natick made the digital conversion to 1:1 computing. The presentation will begin with the planning in 2010 with teach laptops, professional development to support the use of technology in the classroom, training in learning management systems and also parent forums about implementing the program, according to an email from LeDuc.

Following Sanchioni's presentation, the panel of experts, which includes representatives from companies such as Facebook and Twitter, will receive a tour of NHS and get to observe "technology in action as it supports learning," LeDuc said.

Students and teachers will meet informally during lunch to discuss how digital tools are used in the educational environment and social environment.
