Son Raises Nearly $30,000 to Help His Mom, a Quadruple Amputee
Susan Lane, lifelong Natick resident, suffered amputation after an aggressive form of strep pneumonia and bacterial meningitis.

NATICK, MA β For a little more than a year, Susan Lane has lived as a quadruple amputee. Due to a very rare and aggressive form of strep pneumonia and bacterial meningitis, she lost both of her hands at the wirst, and both of her legs from the knee down.
Her son, Jay, created a GoFundMe fundraising page to help collect funds for the growing medical needs, and the fact that Lane, who owned Flowers by the Depot for 20 years, can no longer work.
The fund, which has raised more than $27,000 so far, will help Lane get a trained medical dog, as well as prosthetic legs, hands and training.
