Whitney Place Awarded as 'Shining Light'

The business was lauded as a beacon in the community.

WhitneyΒ Place Assisted Living Residences at Natick, a member of the Natick community since 1997, has received the 2013 Natick Education Foundation’s (NEF) Community Business Shining Light Award. The Natick campus is one of six locations operated by SALMON Health and Retirement, including WhitneyΒ Place, Adult Day Health Center, Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center and the SALMON Center for Early Education.

WhitneyΒ Place, under the leadership of Executive Director Bill McGinley, has been involved in the Natick community in a number of ways, including participation on the Boards of Natick V.N.A. and the MetroWest YMCA.

The community has also hosted functions in their Community Room for Natick organizations such as the Girl Scouts and Senior Center meetings, helped sponsor Natick Days and the Fourth of July Parade, and offered high school students internships and community service opportunities.

Over the years, hundreds of students from the Natick Public Schools have visited and worked on project with residents. To date,Β WhitneyΒ Place is proud to have raised more than $130,000 for the Natick Public Schools through the NEF.

SALMON’s Chief Operating Officer Matt Salmon watched as McGinley received the award on March 20 at the Center for the Arts in Natick.

β€œIt was a great ceremony,” said Salmon.Β β€œIt was nice to see such a strong community bond in a place as big and diverse as Natick.”

The Salmons encourage their staff to contribute to the local communities in which their campuses are located including Milford, Natick, Northborough, Northbridge, Westborough and Worcester. Β 

Salmon added, β€œAs much as the Shining Light Award is forΒ WhitneyΒ Place, it’s very much a reflection of Bill’s personal and individual commitment to the Natick community.Β  As a family and as an organization, we are very proud of Bill and his team.”

McGinley added humbly, β€œThis award is not about me, but about everyone atΒ WhitneyΒ Place. Together, we’ve worked to stay connected to our tight-knit community and make a difference.”
