An active vocabulary is much more fun than a stagnant one.

current or flow and often having an unpleasant smell as a consequence.
1.1 Showing no activity; dull and sluggish.

Origin
Mid 17th century: from Latin stagnant- β€˜forming a pool of standing water’, from the verb stagnare, from stagnum β€˜pool’.
