Boston Archdiocese To Ordain Four Area Men As Priests

Area men from Ashland, Dedham, Needham and Stoughton will be ordained as priests at a ceremony Saturday in Lowell.

LOWELL β€” The Merrimack Valley will host the Catholic Archdiocese of Boston annual Mass of Ordination for four area men who will be ordained as priests at the Immaculate Conception Church in Lowell on Saturday, the Eagle-Tribune reports.

Cardinal Sean O'Malley, archbishop of Boston, will ordain eight men to the priesthood.

Four of them are from Massachusetts: Michael Zimmerman was raised in Needham, Jason Giombetti from Ashland, William Sexton was brought up in Dedham, and Kevin Leaver comes from Stoughton, according to the Eagle-Tribune.

The other four men are from outside the United States: Americo Santos is a native of El Salvador, Pablo Gomis is from Spain, Wellington Oliveira is a Brazilian and Godfrey Musabe was born in Uganda, the newspaper reports.

The other Four of them are from Massachusetts: Michael Zimmerman was raised in Needham, Jason Giombetti from Ashland, William Sexton was brought up in Dedham, and Kevin Leaver comes from Stoughton, according to the newspaper.

Santos, Musabe, Sexton and Giombetti attended St. John Seminary in Brighton. Zimmerman and Leaver received their theological training at the Pontifical North American College in Rome, while Gomis and Oliveira studied for the priesthood at Redemptoris Mater Archdiocesan Missionary Seminary in Brookline.

The annual Mass of Ordination, which almost always occurs at the immense Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston, will take place at Immaculate Conception Church, 144 East Merrimack St., in Lowell, beginning at 10 a.m., the Eagle-Tribune reports.

The ordination was transferred from the cathedral because the main sanctuary will soon undergo an extensive renovation.
