Cement Truck In Needham Takes Down Live Wires

The driver had to wait inside his truck until crews could remove the wires and deem it safe for him to get out.

NEEDHAM, MA β€” Needham police closed part of Great Plain Avenue on Monday morning after a cement truck took down live wires on the road.

Great Plain Avenue was closed between Broadmeadow Road and Greendale Avenue.

Police said several wires were reported down at 10:10 a.m. and it was unclear at first if any of the live wires landed on the truck. The driver was instructed to stay inside the truck until crews came to remove the wires and deem it safe.

Verizon crews cleared the wires and the driver was able to safely get out of the truck β€” no injuries were reported. The road is still closed and police are telling commuters to use alternate routes in the area.
