Cyclist Hit By Car, Loud Party: Needham Police Log

No arrests were made during the week but plenty of calls were placed with the Needham Police Department.

NEEDHAM, MA β€” Here's a sample of some types of calls the Needham Police Department respond to each day from the police logs, which are public. No arrests were made last week but multiple incidents were reported.

Arrests do not imply conviction and just because someone reports a crime does not mean it happened that way.

11:15 a.m.: An officer conducted a traffic stop near Highland Ave at First Ave. After a brief investigation, the driver, a 56-year-old Needham man, was summonsed to Dedham District Court for operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration and no inspection sticker.

11:30 a.m.: Someone walked in to report a past incident of larceny. The woman said that she had several items stolen while abroad in Europe but wanted to make a report for insurance purposes.

11:45 a.m.: Someone walked in to report a suspicious phone call. The woman said that she received an early morning voicemail from a past client that was suspicious. The voicemail appeared to be made by a party in an altered state of mind.

12:45 p.m.: A man was pulled over for texting while driving on School Street. The 23-year-old man from Framingham was summons to court for unlicensed operation and cellphone use. The boss' vehicle was issued a citation for inspection and failure to display a company's name.

11:50 p.m.: A Needham resident walked into the station to report fraud. Incident under investigation.

Tuesday, Oct. 22

3:00 p.m.: A Needham resident reported that he had given out some personal information during a phone scam. He was told to place a fraud alert on his accounts.

3:15 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a Highland Ave address for a report of a suspicious man. The matter is under investigation.

4:10 p.m.: A person walked into the station and reported that someone had fraudulently opened a Sprint account in her name. The Needham resident is working with a collection agency to remove the charges and cancel the account.

Thursday, Oct. 24

7:15 p.m: A Needham resident reported that their social security number was compromised. The person was advised to contact the credit reporting agencies and to put a freeze on their credit.

Friday, Oct. 25

4:20 p.m.: An officer responded to a Cabot Street business for a report of a suspicious package. The item was taken into custody for safe keeping.

Saturday, Oct. 26

8:30 a.m.: A Needham resident reported her social security number was compromised. The woman was advised to contact the credit reporting agencies and to put a freeze on her credit.

10:15 a.m.: An officer responded to a Laurel Dr home for a report of a cyclist hit by a motor vehicle. The victim was hit from behind. The victim did not want medical attention and both parties exchanged information at the scene.

2:00 p.m.: A Webster Street resident walked into the station to report neighbor trouble. The resident was having a dispute with his landlord. He was advised of his legal options and to call the police if it happens again.

2:10 p.m.: A Needham resident filed a wire fraud report. The woman said she received an email from her real estate lawyer to wire the closing costs to an out of state bank. Upon further investigation the email in question was very similar to her attorney's, but fraudulent. She notified her bank.

3:30 p.m.: An officer responded to a disturbance between a Gould Street resident and contractor. Both parties separated and agreed to handle the matter in civil court if necessary.

5:00 p.m.: Someone reported an erratic driver. The car was stopped on Chestnut St. A brief investigation resulted in a 30-year-old woman from Norfolk being summoned for unlicensed operation.

9:00 p.m.: Officers were called to a Hillside Av home for a reported intoxicated person. A 29-year-old Millis man was placed into protective custody and transported to NPD HQ.

11:15 p.m.: Officers responded to a Country Way home for report of a loud party. The guests left from the residence without incident.
