Dave Becker & Sweet Basil Still Supports Bakes for Breast Cancer
The annual event was postponed due to COVID-19

Like several other spring events and initiatives, Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer was postponed until the fall, with hopes that by October, things will resume back to normal. It always coincided with days/weeks surrounding Motherβs Day because Carol Sneider launched Bakes for Breast Cancer in honor of her mom who passed away at a young age. Every year, Boston Bakes partner with bakeries, restaurants, cafΓ©s, etc. to have the sales of one of their dessert items (or 50% of their entire dessert menu) go directly to Bakes and Dana-Farber.
Even though it is moved to October, some long-standing partnerships and restaurant owner friends are stepping in to fill the void. Dave Becker, who runs three restaurants including Sweet Basil, had his Date Cake on the Boston Bakes roster at Juniper and Bellani for years. Dave has started offering it at Sweet Basil beginning this past Monday, May 10th with 100% of the sales going to Bakes for Breast Cancer and to research being done by Dr. Rachel Freedman at Dana-Farber.
COVID-19 related initiatives are dominating stories for all the right reasons, but people are still being diagnosed with breast cancer, and bravely battling breast cancer during this time as well. Carol wants to make sure those battles arenβt completely forgotten.
