Flu Takes Life Of Needham Woman

Jenny Ching, 51, died last Friday two days after going to the hospital for what her family thought was a bad cold.

NEEDHAM, MA β€” The flu is being blamed for the death of a Needham woman. Jenny Ching, 51, formerly of Dedham, died last Friday, two days after going to the hospital for what her family thought was a bad cold. The illness turned into pneumonia and became a severe infection. The infection spread so quickly that her body could not fight it, according to a GoFundMe page for her family.

Ching was a well-known resident and worked at the New Garden Restaurant in Needham. Her wake was Wednesday. Her funeral attracted hundreds of mourners, according to the Boston Globe.

"Jenny was a beautiful woman with a huge heart. She would do anything for anyone. If she wasn’t greeting you with a big smile at The New Garden restaurant where she worked, she was stopping you on the street to find out how you’re doing. She was a wonderful mom and will be truly missed by everyone who knew her," Nancy Robbins Kane wrote on GoFundMe.
