Fluffernutter Oozes into Top State Sandwich Rank
Make one this weekend or try some creative recipes at the annual Fluff Festival in Somerville Saturday.

Zagatβs recent list ofΒ 50 Sandwiches, 50 States, breaks down unique regional sandwiches across the country and it comes as no surprise the Massachusetts sandwich is, you guessed it, The Fluffernutter.
And the timing couldnβt be better. This weekend is the annual Fluff Festival in Somerville, MA where the marshmallow fluff was invented in 1917, by Archibald Query right in Somervilleβs Union Square.

This yearβs βWhat the Fluff?β is expected to attract 10,000 fans of the sticky marshmallow goodness.
If you grew up in the area, thereβs no doubt youβve had, at some point in your life, a peanut butter and Fluff sandwich. If you havenβt, then you have no idea what we are talking about and are really missing out on this unique, sandwich treat!

The Somerville event includes all things Fluff including local vendors with βFluffalicious delights,β Fluff-inspired cocktails in more.
The βWhat the Fluff?β Fluff Festival also includes aΒ cook-off for local culinary novices to share their fluff-inspired recipes. Contestants can enter in four different categories: Best Original Recipe, Best Traditional Recipe, Most Creative and Best Youth Entry, as well as a Best Overall Grand Prize Winner. And that grand prize winner gets a private tour of the Durkee-Mower Marshmallow Fluff Factory!
