Hit And Run, Stolen Cooler: Needham Police Log

One arrest was made during the week but plenty of calls were placed with the Needham Police Department.

NEEDHAM, MA β€” Here's a sample of some types of calls the Needham Police Department respond to each day from the police logs, which are public. No arrests were made last week but multiple incidents were reported.

Arrests do not imply conviction and just because someone reports a crime does not mean it happened that way.

Monday, Dec. 9

12:40 p.m.: A person reported that two coolers were stolen from his truck while he was at a local business on Chapel Street the night before.

4:40 p.m.: An officer took a report from a Charles River Street resident who reported losing her International Driver’s License.

8:00 p.m.: Officers responded to a Webster Street address for a report of a possible pedestrian hit. When police got to the scene they found a man who was highly intoxicated and physically resistant. The man was placed in protective custody. As a result, a 20-year-old male from Dedham will be summonsed to Dedham District court for Assault and Battery on a Police Officer.

11:00 p.m.: Officers responded to a Manning Street address to attempt to serve a warrant. A 30-year-old Needham man was placed under arrest for an outstanding warrant.

Tuesday, Dec. 10

1:45 p.m.: A Greendale Ave resident reported that they were the victim of a scam. They received a call purported to be from the Social Security Administration demanding money. The money was paid via gift cards.

2:15 p.m.: A South Street resident reported that there was a fraudulent attempt to open a credit card in his name. The bank notified him of the attempt and the fact that it was denied. he was advised to monitor his credit report.

3:00 p.m.: An officer stopped a car on Highland Avenue. As a result of a traffic stop a 27-year-old Washington State resident will be summons to Dedham District Court for unlicensed operation and suspended registration of a motor vehicle.

4:24 p.m.: Officers responded to a Kendrick Street address for a past disturbance. Upon arrival officers spoke with the reporting party and were able to determine the second party works in the same building. Officers spoke with both parties and a report was taken.

5:45 p.m.: A Standish Road resident reports he paid for a computer online and didn’t receive the goods in return. Police are working with the app company he used to make the payment.

Wednesday, Dec. 11

6:20 a.m.: An officer responded to a motor vehicle crash on South Street at Canterbury Lane. It was later determined the vehicle registration was revoked. The operator, a 28-year-old Dedham woman, was cited for operation after revocation of registration. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

11:45 a.m.: An officer responded to a Hillside Avenue business for a report of a disturbance. Police said the issue was resolved before they got there.

12:45 p.m.: An officer saw a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker and conducted a traffic stop on Rivard Rd. The driver did not have valid license. The driver, a 27-year-old man from Westport, will be summoned to court for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and having an expired inspection sticker.

Thursday, Dec. 12

8:30 a.m.: Needham Police and Needham Fire Department responded to the area of 250 Highland Avenue for a multiple car crash with injures. Four cars where involved, two were towed from the scene. Two people were also taken to the hospital. After a brief investigation, a 19-year-old man was given a motor vehicle citation for Marked Lanes and Failing to Yield.

10:25 a.m.: An officer took a report from a Central Avenue resident about a lost or stolen wallet.

12:20 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a Great Plain Av business for a reported hit and run crash.

3:30 p.m.: A Dedham Avenue business owner called and stated that he has some information regarding a possible credit card fraud incident that took place. The incident is under investigation.

10:20 p.m.: An officer stopped a car on Highland Avenue for an expired inspection sticker. An investigation concluded that the vehicle was also uninsured and operating after revocation. A 40-year-old male from Needham was summons to court on these charges.

Friday, Dec. 13

10:50 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a Central Avenue residence for a reported past larceny.

2:45 p.m.: A person reported that a piece of equipment was removed from his vehicle while it was being serviced at a Highland Avenue business. He will attempt to rectify the issue with the business.

11:15 p.m.: A Central Avenue resident reported suspicious phone calls and other suspicious activity that occurred over the past couple of weeks. Extra checks of their home will be performed.

Saturday, Dec. 14

1:40 p.m.: An officer took a walk-in report of credit card fraud. The victim's credit card number was stolen and used to purchase two items. The party immediately canceled the credit card and was also advised to put a fraud alert on their accounts.

Sunday, Dec. 15

11:15 a.m.: An officer responded to a Highland Ave business for a report of shoplifting. As a result of the investigation, a 50-year-old Needham man will be summoned to Dedham District Court and was served with a no trespassing order.
