Hourly Forecast for Winter Weather Heading to Needham

As previously reported, Needham will likely be receiving its first dose of winter weather this season on Monday night and Tuesday.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory to the area yesterday that will last from 10:00 p.m. on Monday to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The advisory calls for snow, sleet and freezing rain.

Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect on an hourly basis, according to weather.com’s most recent hourly forecast:

• Snow showers are projected to begin at 1:00 a.m. with a 40 percent chance of precipitation. Snow will then ensue between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. with temperatures between 29 and thirty degrees and an 80 to 100 percent chance of precipitation. Light snow is expected at 3:00 a.m.
• The snow is projected to change into a wintry mix starting at 7:00 a.m. and lasting until 8:00 a.m. Temperatures will stay at 30 degrees and there is a 100 percent chance of precipitation.
• The wintry mix is projected to change into freezing rain at approximately 9:00 a.m and then change to standard rain at 10:00 a.m. Showers will likely last until about 5:00 p.m. Temperatures will rise to the upper 30s and there is a 90 to 100 percent chance of precipitation until 2:00 p.m.
