Needham Accepting Applications For Emergency Rental Assistance

Needham is providing short-term rental payment assistance to residents.

NEEDHAM, MA β€” Needham is offering residents help to pay rent for those struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Needham's short-term rental payment assistance program came after the town appropriated $120,000 in Community Preservation Act funds which is being combined with a $50,000 grant the Foundation for MetroWest secured from the MA Covid-19 Relief Fund for a total budget of $170,000.

The program will provide 50 percent of a household's monthly rent with a maximum monthly payment of $1,500 for up to 3 months. Residents who rent and earn at or below 80 percent of the area median income is eligible and must demonstrate loss of income due to the pandemic.

Applications are being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until all of the funds have been committed.
