Needham Farmers Market Announces 'Corn Fest'

It’s that time of the summer again! Sweet, fresh picked corn on the cob is on special. Mac’s Dozen is really 14 ears of corn for only $3! Boil it, roast it, and add Mac’s corn to your soups, stews and chowders. Center Café will be showing us how to shuck and cook corn the proper way, so stop by for a quick shucking lesson and free corn picked that morning and cooked for you by Center Café! Center Café will also be serving lunch for everyone from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Mac Arthur will also have squash and zucchini on sale for 50 cents/pound!! MacArthur Farm will returnwith their specialty Asian vegetables, including water spinach, Tribou Vietnamese squash, eggplant, green and red peppers, Chioggia beets and colored carrots as well as their prize-winning tomatoes, wax and green beans, pickling cucumbers, radishes, greens, various types of lettuce, rhubarb, herbs, zucchini, cousa, summer squash, sugar snap and shell peas, carrots, scallions, golden and red beets and of course, sweet strawberries, local and Maine blueberries and Acres Honey. Now a favorite, MacArthur Farm is also sellig delicious and fresh, baked the same day Framingham Baking Co. Italian and French bread and rolls that have no preservatives.

Neighborhood Farm will have new types of seedling and heirloom tomatoes, their famous garlic in many new flavors and varieties, potatoes, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, cherry tomatoes, green peppers, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, sugar snap peas, romaine lettuce, red and green lettuce, Italian kale, green curly kale, Swiss Chard, cauliflower, broccoli, rainbow chard, kohlrabi, nappa cabbage and multi-colored corn for popping.

Vendors at the market for Sunday, Aug. 14 include MacArthur Farm, Neighborhood Farm, Boston Sword and Tuna, Deano’s Pasta, Ackermann Maple Farm and Cookie Lady Treats.

Rich Miller and Jam Sandwich will be filling the Market with music. Located behind the Needham Bank in Needham Center, the Needham Farmers Market is open on Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.
