Needham High Football Eliminated From Playoffs With Loss to Marshfield

The Needham High School varsity football suffered a crushing defeat Friday night, losing 43-0 to Marshfield in the South Division 2 championship game.

Marshfield’s offense was overwhelming in the first half of play. They jumped out to a 36-0 half-time lead. Needham stood stout in the second half, but they were unable to get their offense on track.

After winning seven straight games, the Rockets’ magical playoff run is now over. They were just two victories away from clinching a Super Bowl appearance.

Despite the loss, Needham has much to be proud about. They currently sit at 7-3 on the season and are 5-1 in league play. Needham previously won playoff games over King Phillip and Braintree.

The Rockets will take on Wellesley on Thanksgiving Day at Fenway Park.
