Needham Hit And Run: Roslindale Man Seriously Injured On I-95

Police say the man was injured after he pulled over for an overheating engine.

NEEDHAM, MA β€” A Roslindale man was transported to the hospital following a hit and run on Interstate 95 in Needham.

At about 10 p.m. Friday night, state police received a report of a hit and run crash involving a pedestrian on the southbound side of the highway near at exit 19. A preliminary police investigation indicates that a 22-year-old had pulled his vehicle into the breakdown lane due to an overheating engine. The man exited his vehicle and was struck by a vehicle which was traveling past his location. The vehicle that struck the pedestrian did not stop and continued traveling south, police said.

The Roslindale man was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital with serious injuries.

State police closed two lanes on the highway before reopening them just before 11 p.m.
