Needham Native Mac Steevesโ€‹ Drafted By MLS' Houston Dynamo

The Needham High School product is heading to Houston.

A Needham native is heading to Houston to play MLS soccer.

Mac Steeves, a forward out of Providence College, was drafted by the Houston Dynamo with the 43rd pick of the MLS Superdraft. The pick was the 20th of the second round.

โ€œI truly want to thank my family, coaches and teammates Iโ€™ve had along the way,โ€ Steeves said in a release.โ€œI am so thankful for the support of my Friar family, especially everyone in the athletic training room for getting me back healthy after two surgeries. I am so excited to join the Houston Dynamo and start a new journey!โ€

During his senior year at Providence, Steeves scored a team-leading eight goals and 19 points total. He was named to the All-Big East First Team. He scored 35 goals during his time as a Friar.

While at Needham High School, Steeves set the school's single season record with 45 points during the Rockets' 2012 Division 1 state title campaign.

Steeves is expected to start training with the Dynamo immediately. Preseason training started Tuesday morning and he was listed on the 34-man roster.
