Needham Opens Football Postseason Against Brockton Friday
The Bay State Conference Carey Division Co-champions will open the postseason by taking on seventh-seeded Brockton.
NEEDHAM, MA — Needham High School's football team, which finished the regular season at 6-1, was seeded third in the MIAA's Division 1 South playoffs. The Rockets will open the eight-team tournament Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. when they host seventh-seeded Brockton High School (3-4).
If Needham wins Friday's game, they will advance to play the winner of Xaverian (3-3) vs. Attleboro (3-4) on either Nov. 3 or 4 at a time to be announced after the opening round is complete.
The MIAA switched to a playoff format in 2013. The state semi-finals are scheduled for the weekend of Nov. 17 and 18, with state championship games scheduled for Dec. 2 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. For more on the state football tournament, see the MIAA football Website.
