Needham Police Investigate Flags Burned On Fourth Of July Weekend

Several small stick flags that were on a field in town were found burned.

NEEDHAM, MA β€” Needham police are investigating what happened to several flags on Memorial Field over the Independence Day weekend.

An officer was approached by a resident at Memorial Field on Sunday who said several stick flags on the field had been damaged. The officer saw several burned flags on the part of the field near Highland Avenue.

WBZ News said it was nearly two dozen American flags that were burned.

The damaged flags were removed and replaced with new ones but the matter is still under investigation. The flags were part of the Exchange Club's "Field of Flags" display. Altogether, 500 Stars and Stripes flags in five rows were put out honoring first responders on July 1st.
