Needham Police Log: Car Fire, an OUI, and More

• At about 10:15 a.m., police responded to Second Ave where a fraud was reported. The reporting caller reported that her debit card had been compromised four times, totalling $1241.70. She put a hold on the account, and police filed a report.
• A party walked into the police station to report a past disturbance at Otrada ADHC on Second Avenue reported at about 4 p.m. He reported that he was having a contract dispute with a resident over some work that had been done. Police advised both him and the contractor that it was a civil matter. 

• A hit-and-run crash occurred outside of a Highland Avenue business, near the 230 block at around noon. Police do not have a suspect vehicle, and advised the driver to contact his insurance company.
• A 30-year-old Walpole woman, an employee at a Highland Avenue business, will be summonsed to court for charges of larceny of more than $250 following a report at about 5 p.m. at Walgreens. 
• 6:30 p.m., police pulled a vehicle over for a one-way violation at the intersection of Highland and Rosemary. Following that, the 31-year-old Medford man at the wheel will be summonsed to court for the one-way violation, and driving after a suspension.
• Police were dispatched to Hamilton Place for a suspicious vehicle, at about 8:15 p.m. After specking with the driver, 63-year-old Conrad Ardine of Needham was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol.

• 8:30 a.m., a New Hampshire resident is cited for unlicensed driving and failing to yield to oncoming traffic after being in a crash. 
• While patrolling near 200 Highland Avenue, police saw a car pulled over at the side of the road with black smoke coming from the engine block. Police reported seeing fire coming out of the engine compartment. The Needham Fire Department responded to the scene and put the fire out, at about 2:45 p.m., and the car was towed by Needham Towing. 
• Police responded to Cutler Park at about 8 p.m. for a report of a lost youth, who was located shortly afterward and returned to his family.

• There was a moderate amount of damage done to a car following a hit-and-run crash in the parking lot of Restaurant Depot on First Avenue in Needham, at about 11:15 a.m.
• Just after 4 p.m., a walk-in party reported a fraudulent credit card purchase of over $8000 at an out-of-state grocery store. The credit card company has been notified, and the card canceled. 
• Past larceny reported from a Pickering Street address, at about 4:15 p.m. A small black purse with about $5 and credit and debit cards was taken sometime between 1 and 4 p.m. on the day. Police don't have any suspects at the moment.
• Police stopped a vehicle in the Greendale Avenue/Hunting Road area for a speeding violation. While speaking with the driver, police learned that driver had an expired license, and will summons the driver to court for driving without a license and speeding at about 4:45 p.m.
