April 1, 2021 – The Town of Needham and Needham Public Health today provided the following update regarding COVID-19.

State DPH COVID-19 Numbers

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health reports the number of positive cases and deaths daily on the state's COVID-19 dashboard.

Town-specific case numbers are published by the state every Thursday.

• 1,615 Needham cases to date 4/1/2021). This is an increase of 38 cases since the 3/25/21 report.
• Needham is in the YELLOW category this week. Read the state’s Weekly Public Health Report here.
• 123 Coronavirus deaths in Needham to date (3/25/21).

Needham Public Health Urges Residents to Keep Wearing Masks

With cases continuing to rise and pandemic fatigue taking hold, the Town and Needham Public Health are urging residents to continue wearing face covers while around others, even if you are vaccinated. As we all know, variants of the Covid-19 virus are spreading more quickly and are helping push case numbers higher across Massachusetts. The science has not yet made clear whether vaccinated individuals can spread the virus to others. Until then, we must all continue to take proper precaution.

While it is tempting to take masks off while outdoors, the Town is urging people to be respectful of their neighbors by wearing their masks at the Reservoir, Cutler Park and other recreational spaces where more people are gathering as the weather gets warm. Thanks for doing your part to help us get to the end of this pandemic.
