Needham's Chairs to Remember Make for a Memorable Night

TheΒ memorable Adirondack chairs around Needham are gone for the summer, many to new homes.Β

Last weekend, the chairs went upΒ for saleΒ at auction later at the Town Hall.Β The Needham Merchant's Association invitedΒ Needham’s own Bill Littlefield of NPR’s β€œOnly A Game” to stop in and run the auction. He added anecdotes, wit, and a few books to some of the lots for sale--and was awarded one of theΒ chairs for his work.Β

The Auction wasΒ supported by Roche Bros., BethΒ Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham, and volunteers from the Needham MerchantsΒ Association, Needham Restaurant Association, Needham Business Association, and the TownΒ of Needham.Β

Food and drink for attendees were supplied by a number of donors, includingΒ Avery Manor, Coca Cola Refreshments, Vermont Spring Water, Bertucci’s BrickΒ Oven Pizzeria, Food Should Taste Good, Sweet Basil Restaurant, Hazel’s Bakery, Treat CupcakeΒ Bar, Needham Center Fine Wines, Needham Wine and Spirits, and Volante Farms.

The program is a part of the Needham Discover Local First campaign, which encourages residents to shop and dine local.Β

"IΒ encourage you to give back to the business community which provides so much to us---shop,Β dine, Discover Needham,"added Town Economic Development DirectorΒ Devra Bailin in a press release.Β

Last year's auction raised money for aΒ scholarship program, which will give two scholarships to business students, and two to arts students forΒ $1,000, as well as fundingΒ someΒ small town beautification projects.
