St. Joseph Students Give Back to Support Children with Cancer
More than 60 students will shave their heads or donate hair to help girls and women with cancer, receive wigs.

From SJES: Students at St. Joseph Elementary School (SJES), located in Needham, MA, are giving back in support of children with cancer. This June, for the 5th year, a record number of more than thirty SJES girls, and a Monsignor Haddad Middle School student, will donate their hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths to help girls and women with cancer receive wigs. The boys were also eager to do their part and several students raised their hand to ask how they could help support the cause. For the first year, more than thirty boys (and one dad!) will shave their heads in The One Mission Buzz Off event.

βServe each other and the world is one of the guiding principles of our mission statement and I couldnβt be more proud of the students and their compassion for others,β said Charlotte Kelly, principal of St. Joseph Elementary School. βEach year, more and more girls stand at my office door to sign up to donate their hair.
After watching from the sidelines over the years, I was impressed when the boys asked what they could do! The St. Joeβs students are truly special.β First up, the boys will be heading to Gillette Stadium on June 4th to shave their heads for kids with cancer. They have been fundraising for months and the team of boys have raised more than $28,000. A few days later, on June 8th, the girls will do their part by donating their hair (8 inches or more!) to support Pantene Beautiful Lengths. Avante Salon in Needham has always been a huge supporter of their efforts and will, again, be cutting their hair at no cost.
