Town Going Pink at Needham Harvest Fair

School sports and local businesses also finding ways to raise awareness of breast cancer throughout the month of October.


Come Saturday, while the leaves are turning orange, the town will be turning pink.Β 

Needham Goes Pink will kick offΒ at theΒ Annual Harvest Fair. The drive is a fundraiser for the Needham Goes Pink Fund, recently established at Beth Israel Deaconness Hospital -Needham for breast cancer patients.

For those who may not have heard,Β Needham isΒ hosting the annual Harvest Fair at the town CommonΒ come 10 a.m. on Saturday, running until 3 p.m. Not just the harvest fair, but also the Souper bowl. In addition to soups under the big tent, there will be ponies and a pumpkin patch,Β andΒ the Department of Public Works is letting you touch their trucks.

Needham Goes Pink will have a booth at the fair, and will be taking donations in exchange for shoelaces, ribbons andΒ pink silicone wrist bands.Β

According to a press release from Needham Economic Development Director Devra Bailin, the Needham Merchants Association is also providing the High School and Middle SchoolΒ sports teams with pink shoelaces to wear at gamesΒ throughout the month of October.Β 

Keep an eye out while you are shopping around town for "pink specials" at local businesses. Portions of the proceeds from those sales will go to benefit the Needham Goes Pink Fund as well, according to the press release. The town will also place pink bows on parking meters during the month.
