WATCH: Aly Raisman Delivers Powerful Words At ESPYs

Raisman was one of the many survivors of Larry Nassar's abuse to accept the Arthur Ash Courage Award.

Aly Raisman was part of a powerful moment of survival during Wednesday night’s ESPY Awards.

Raisman and the other survivors of sexual abuse inflicted by disgraced USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University Doctor Larry Nassar received the Arthur Ash Courage Award. Standing in front of dozens of survivors, Raisman was one of three survivors to speak while accepting the award. In her remarks, Raismen emphasized how many times people spoke out again Nassar, only to be ignored.

β€œ1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2004, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016. These were the years we spoke up about Nassar’s abuse. All those years we were told β€˜you are wrong, you misunderstood, he’s a doctor, it’s ok, don’t worry we got is covered, be careful, there are risked involved.’ The intention? To silence us in favor of money, medals, and reputation but we persisted and finally, someone listened and believed us, Raisman said.

Nassar is serving what’s for all intents and purposes is a life sentence. He was ordered to spend 60 years in a federal prison for receiving child pornography, possession of child pornography, and evidence tampering and another 40 to 175 years in a state prison for 10 counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Raisman became the voice of the survivor in January when she joined more than 250 women in giving victim impact statements prior to Nassar's state prison sentence.
