What's Open, Closed On Patriots Day In Needham
Monday is Patriots Day, a state holiday in Massachusetts but not a federal holiday. Find out what will be open and closed on the holiday.
NEEDHAM, MA — Patriots Day is Monday, April 16 here in Massachusetts. Patriots' Day marks the the Battles of Lexington and Concord and the start of the Revolutionary War. It's also Marathon Monday.
Here's a handy list of what's open (and closed) during the holiday:
- Retail stores: Most open
- Supermarkets, liquor stores and convenience stores: Open
- Bars and restaurants: Open
- Stock market: Open
- Town Offices: Closed
- State offices: Closed
- Federal offices: Open
- Library: Closed
- Public Schools: Closed. Monday marks the beginning of school vacation week.
- Post office: Open
- MBTA: All subway lines operating on regular weekday schedule with added service before and after the Marathon. On Marathon Monday, various bus routes on both the North and South sides will be detoured. Due to congestion, bikes are not allowed on any MBTA vehicles on Patriots' Day.
