5 Things You Need to Know Today: July 1

Compost, blood pressure screenings, planning and development meeting and more.

1. The city's free summer health maintenance clinics begin today. Stop by the Newton Free Library between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. for a free blood pressure screening.

Β 2. The Planning and Development Board is meeting tonight at 7:30 in Room 209 at Newton City Hall.

Β 3. Don't forget that there is free compost available to Newton residents at the Rumford Avenue Recycling Depot throughout the summer. Bring small buckets or other containers. No commercial operations are permitted and supplies are limited.

Β 4. Now that summer is underway, be sure and check in with the Newton Free Library before you head to an area museum, park or attraction. The library might have discounted passes available for your destination. Here's a look at what passes are available.
