CHESTNUT HILL, MA – You may have noticed there's a new ice cream place in town. OddFellows Ice Cream Co. opened this summer in Chestnut Hill's The Street, complete with old school counter service, retro decor and unique flavors of ice cream made in small batches.

But the Brooklyn based ice cream shop is also known in New York as the first ice cream shop with a β€œhappy hour.” This week adds β€œGrown-Up Desserts” along with a curated beer and wine list focused on natural wines and local brewers to the menu.

OddFellows’ menu includes its own take on beer and wine floats, slushies, frappes and affogati.

Look for an Espresso Martini Slushie with Bailey’s, coffee, vodka, and cream for $10. It's Irish Coffee Frappe with Coffee Crunch ice cream, whiskey, and Bailey’s goes for $15. Limoncello Affogato with Olive Oil & Strawberry Jam ice cream, Fabrizia Crema di Limoncello, and candied lemon also goes for $10. Then there' the Piquette Float with Old Westminster Piquette – a sort of natural wine spritzer – and choice of sorbet for $12.

"We take the same approach with our ice cream as we do with our beverage menu: they need to be made with integrity, sometimes surprising, and always delicious," said Co-Owner Mohan Kumar."We love the craft brewing culture of New England and are excited to showcase some local favorites, along with natural wines by the glass."

Many of OddFellows’ alcoholic concoctions are crafted with natural wines and local beers, which also inspired its curated beer and wine list.

Guests can expect a variety of beers from local brewers like Lord Hobo, Night Shift and Mighty Squirrel, and a selection of red, rosΓ©, white and sparkling natural wines from wineries around the world, including SΓ©bastien Jaulin and Yves Plaisantinn in Chinon, France; Matthew Rorick’s Forlorn Hope in Sierra Foothills, California; and Valentina Passalacqua’s Calcarius in Puglia, Italy.

Holiday and Mohan Kumar opened their first shop in New York with Sam Mason, a James Beard nominated pastry chef, in 2013 after Mohan brought some of Mason's salty pretzel ice cream to Holiday to satisfy her cravings for savory ice cream when she was pregnant with twins.

You have to be at least 21 to partake of the alcohol menu. OddFellows is open Sunday through Thursday, 12 p.m. to 10 p.m., and weekends, 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.
