Boston Mayor Holding Inauguration on Newton's Doorstep

Boston Mayor-elect Marty Walsh will kickoff his first term with an inauguration ceremony in Chestnut Hill - just inside the Boston side the line.

The ceremony will be held in Boston College's Conte Forum, home to the Eagles' basketball and ice hockey teams. According to a Boston Globe article, the border between Boston and Newton sits as close as 27 paces from the arena.

While Chestnut Hill is one of the 13 villages in Newton, it also spills into Boston. Conte Forum officially lies in Boston. BC deals with The Hub for any licensing and permitting.

Previous inaugurations have taken place in Faneuil Hall and the Citi Performing Arts Center.Β Those spots, however, would not accommodate the 6,000 volunteers who worked on Walsh's campaign on election day, one of his staffers told the Globe.
