The Dachshunds You Asked About Are Ready for New Homes
More than a week ago, 71 dachshund mixes were taken from a Massachusetts home by the MSPCA. They are now healthy enough to be adopted.

The more than 70 dachshunds that were pulled from poor conditions in a Massachusetts home more than a week ago are now ready to find new, loving homes.
The Massachusetts Society for Prevention to Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA) has announced that its adoption centers in Boston and Methuen are now accepting applications. Many have inquired about adopting the dogs since they were taken by the MSPCA from a Westminster home after it was reported the dogs were living in much-less-than-ideal conditions.
Most of them underweight, matted and coated in urine and feces, 71 Dachshund mix dogs were surrendered to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA)-Angell Memorial from a Massachusetts home in early January.

The MSPCA, in an announcement, said that the dogs, which were males, females and puppies, were underweight, coated in urine and feces, and matted. The conditions of the home were βextremely dirty.β Some dogs were in outside cages, and were not protected from elements.
According to the MSPCA, 60 of the animals taken from 21 Harrington Road, Westminster, were taken to its adoption centers in Boston and Methuen, and the rest will remain at the Westminster facility. MSPCA is looking for adoptive homes for the puppies and dogs.

βSince their surrender, the adoption center staffs have been hard at work assessing the medical and behavior needs of each individual dog and are nearing a point where the dogs will be ready to be adopted into new and loving families,β reads the MSPCA press release. βIn the next few days, the staff will be finishing their treatments and scheduling their spay/neuter surgeries prior to them being made available for adoption. In the meantime we will be starting the application process with interested parties.β
The MSPCA said it is excited about the outpouring of support it has received from the public. So much so, that the number of interested adopters outnumbers the number of dogs available.
βTo be as fair as possible and to help us choose the best possible homes for these dogs, applications for adoption will be accepted in person at each of our adoption centers on Wed, Jan. 14 and Thursday, Jan. 15 during open hours.β
