Five Things You Need to Know Today: March 27

School Committee meets, a "Not-So-Silent" Cinema event at NewTV and a LIVE chat with Congressman Joe Kennedy III.

1. Chat LIVE with Congressman Joe Kennedy III. Fourth District Congressman Joe Kennedy III will answer reader questions in a LIVE text chat today starting at 1:30 p.m. Tune in here to join the chat or leave your questions in the comments section in advance.

2. "Not-So-Silent" Cinema. NewTV will present "Not-So-Silent" Cinema featuring the New River EnsembleΒ tonight at 7 p.m.Β The event will feature the ensemble performing the soundtrack to the classicΒ Buster Keaton including, among others, β€œElectric House"Β and β€œCops.” The show is free for all NewTV members, students, seniors, and $5 for non-members.Β 

3. School Committee meeting. The Newton School Committee will meet tonight for a regular meeting as well as a special budget discussion. In addition to the budget talks, the committee is scheduled to receive an update on facilities projects. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Education Center.Β

4. Blood Drive. The Newton Free Library will host a blood drive today from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

5.Β Free CPR training next week.Β A free CPR course will be held on Sunday, April 7 from noon to 3 p.m. atΒ Newton North High School. This is not a certification course, but it will teach participants CPR and how to use an AED. Participants must be Newton residents at age 14 or older.Β Register online now.
