Five Things You Need to Know Today: May 10

1. "A Midsummer Night's Dream." The annual Newton North/Newton South Shakespeare production kicked off yesterday and will continue tonight with another show at 7:30 p.m. This year's performance: "A Midsummer Night's Dream." If you can't make tonight's show, check out the matinee tomorrow at 2 p.m. The show will be held at Newton South High School and tickets are $8 (available online).

2. Tomorrow: Newton Community Farm Seedling Sale. The annual Seedling Sale at the Newton Community Farm will be held tomorrow from noon - 3 p.m. Choose from a wide array of vegetable and herb varieties. Cost is $5 for four or six pack of plants. Cash or checks only. Bring a box or bag to carry your plants.

3. Kids' Night Out. The West Suburban YMCA will host a "Kids' Night Out" tonight from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Bring your children (ages 7 to 13) to the Y for fun and supervised Friday night drop-in program. The Y orders pizza for dinner and entertains your children with games, swimming, movies and sports. It’s not just Kids’ Night Out; it’s a parent’s night out, too. $25 for members and $30 for non-members (20% sibling discount).

4. Post on the Newton Patch Local Voices blog. Do you have some local news to share or a discussion to start? Write about it in the Newton Patch Local Voices blog. The blog is open to any Newton residents or business owners who'd like to share with the community.

5. Goodbye from Local Editor Melanie Graham. Today is my last day at Newton Patch. Starting Monday, May 13, Brooklyn Lowery (Brooklyn.Lowery@patch.com) will be taking over the editor duties here, while also managing the Wayland Patch site. It's been a great experience working with everyone in the city over the last three years. Thank you!
