Green Line Train Derails In Newton
Shuttle buses have been dispatched after yet another MBTA derailment. "I'm fine, unless you count annoyance," the lone passenger said.
NEWTON, MA β A train derailed on the D branch of the Green Line near Riverside during the Wednesday morning commute, the MBTA said. Shuttle buses are replacing service from Riverside to Newton Highlands in both directions.
The Boston Globe reported the train had one passenger on it and no one was injured. A woman, Dana OrtegΓ³n, said on Twitter she was the one passenger.
"I'm fine, unless you count annoyance," she said, thanking the MBTA "for another amazing commute."

The MBTA announced the derailment at 7:35 a.m., and then updated around 9 a.m. to let commuters know that crews were working to restore service, which was still suspended. No updates as of 10:30 a.m.
This is the first train derailment since the MBTA raised fares July 1.

Eleven people were injured in a Green Line derailment in June. Days later, a Red Line train derailed at JFK/UMass Station in Dorchester. Officials said regular service will resume there in October.
There were also two Commuter Rail derailments in April and a Green Line derailment in February.
