A nurse from the Health and Human Services Department will holdΒ a drop-in health maintenance clinic on Monday at 9 a.m. This is an opportunity for Newton residents to have their blood pressure taken, ask a medicationΒ question or consult with the public health nurse about a health issue. CookbookΒ authorΒ Katie Workman will discuss her book,Β The Mom 100 CookbookΒ at the Leventhal-Sidman Jewish Community Center, 333 NahantonΒ St. in Newton, on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Geared for noviceΒ cooks to experienced chefs, attendees will learn how to shop, what to prepareΒ and whose recipes to follow. Joining the discussion, which will beΒ moderated by food blogger, author (WellΒCooked Life) and mom Emily Franklin, will be pediatric nutritionist JoanneΒ Casplar and family educator Sarah Wilensky. Glass Fusing Workshop
The Newton Art Center,Β 61 Washington Park in Newtonville,Β hosts a unique opportunity for you to make a one-of-a-kind plate using colored glass pieces on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. No previous experience is required to attend this fun and hands on workshop.
