How Do You Navigate Newton on Marathon Monday?

We're looking for your travel tips for traveling around the city on Mon., April 15, 2013.

On Monday, April 15, more than 25,000 runners will pass through the streets of Newton for the 117th Annual Boston Marathon.Β 

With all those athletes making their way through the city, Newton Police will be closing off major roads, including much of Washington Street and Commonwealth Avenue.Β

Newton Police will close down Washington Street (Route 16) from the Wellesley line to Commonwealth Avenue starting at 8:45 a.m. and Commonwealth Avenue (Route 30) will be closed from Washington Street to the Boston line starting at 9 a.m.

All roads that cross Commonwealth Avenue and Washington Street will effectively be dead ends, as traffic will not be able to cross the marathon route.Β

All roads are scheduled to reopen by 5 p.m.

Some recommended routes for getting around include Route 9, Route 128 and the Mass Pike.Β
