John A. Stranahan, 83, Longtime Newton Upper Falls Resident
A funeral for Stranahan will be held April 9 at noon at the Second Baptist Church in Newton Upper Falls.

John A. Stranahan, 83, of Marlborough, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013.Β
Before moving to Marlborough, Stranahan lived in Newton Upper Falls for more than 45 years, according to his obituary. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Upper Falls for more than 50 years.
Stranahan was born and raised in Brookline and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He earned a degree from the New England School of Art and worked as aΒ Technical Illustrator for GTE in Needham for 25 years, his obituary read.

Stranahan and his wife of 55 years, Phyllis, had five children together.
Stranahan enjoyed classical music, playing piano, watercolor painting and cartooning, his obituary read. He also spent time learning about history and antiques.Β

Calling hours for Stranahan will be held Monday, April 8 from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave. in Needham. A funeral will be held at Second Baptist Church, 65 Ellis St., Upper Falls, on Tuesday, April 9 at noon.Β
In lieu of flowers, donations in Stranahan's name can be made to the Second Baptist Church in Upper Falls.
