Schedule Change at Gath Memorial Pool

Post-season Week day hours go into effectΒ Monday, Aug. 19 at Gath Memorial Pool.Β For full details, see theΒ city website. Basically, adult swim only from 12:15 p.m.-1 p.m. and all-swim (children included) from 1 p.m. to dusk. The weekend schedule remains the same through Labor Day.

Health and Wellness Night

The Mall at Chestnut Hill will be the place to be Wednesday at 5 p.m. to learn about how to make nutritious meals and snacks even in a busy family. Physician, business owner, wife and motherΒ Dr. Wendie Trubow will be on hand. Stop by to meet a nutritionist and sample fare from Whole Foods Market.

New Philharmonia Orchestra Auditions

The new season for the New Philharmonia Orchestra begins soon and the group is holding auditions this week forΒ French horn,Β trombone, percussion and all strings. Check out the audition requirements and contact info to schedule an audition.. Auditions times are available Thursday through Saturday and by appointment.

Historic Newton Walks: Four Centuries of Chestnut Hill

Join Historic Newton for a free walk at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25. The group will meet at the Chestnut Hill School (428 Hammond St.)

City Meetings

The meetings this week are concentrated on Wednesday and Thursday and include the Conservation Commission, the Newton Historical Commission, theΒ Urban Design Commission and theΒ Public Safety & Transportation Committee. Check out the City of Newton website forΒ details. Additionally, the Newton Upper Falls Area Council is scheduled to meet Thursday.
