Newton's Mount Ida Opens Vaccination Site
The Mount Ida Campus of UMass Amherst is the third vaccine site to open in Newton.

NEWTON, MA βThe Mount Ida Campus of UMass Amherst just became the third spot in Newton to offer a COVID-19 vaccine to qualifying public.
Seniors, educators and everyday workers are among those who will soon be eligible during the second phase of the coronavirus vaccine distribution plan in Massachusetts.
The Chestnut Hill Wegmans and the CVS on Route 9 are also listed on the state list of vaccination sites.

The Mount Ida Campus of UMass Amherst officials said Tuesday they partnered with the Holtzman Medical Group to be open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays through "at least March 19," to administer the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to eligible individuals.
The Commonwealth is in Phase Two of vaccine distribution, and those who are eligible according to the state have to schedule an appointment in advance for the vaccine through Holtzmanmedical.org/covid19.

Registrants do not need to be patients of the medical practice or affiliated with UMass.
The Holtzman Medical Group plans to vaccinate between 200 and 250 people per day at the clinic and is working to increase capacity.
New appointments will be posted to the Holtzman Medical website on a rolling basis.

UMass Amherstβs main campus opened a vaccination clinic for eligible Massachusetts residents and employees on Jan. 11.

Vaccine is available by appointment only. Appointments can be made online. Bring insurance card and, or state ID if you have one. They also ask you to check in 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment.

According to the CVS website, CVS Pharmacy is now administering the COVID-19 vaccine by appointment only in Hanover, Newton, and Revere. Others are expected to be added soon. Head to the website to schedule an appointment.

Phase Two started Feb. 1 by allowing anyone 75 or older to get vaccinated. They will be followed by people 65 and older, people in low-income and affordable senior housing and those with two medical conditions that put them at increased risk for severe illness.
Those eligible can get vaccinated at one of the state's mass vaccination sites, including Gillette Stadium, Fenway Park and the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Roxbury.
