Newton Bear Killed on 128
The black bear is believed to have been hit by a car on the highway.

A bear found by the side of Route 128 in Newton is believed to be the same one that has been spotted around town lately.
Officers believe the bear was hit by a car, police spokeswoman Katie Gronendyke said.

The black bear is about 90 pounds and matches the description of the one seen around Newton last week, which officials searched for but could not catch. It was found Thursday by the northbound side of 128 near Route 30.
